everything begins in the imminence of a re-apparition

shown alongside an excerpt from an unselected application to the dakar-based RAW Académies 11th residency session “A Sense of Place/Displacement, Replacement, Non-placement”, the projected montage documents repeated moments of suspension, gathered over ten days spent traversing the cap-vert peninsula; taxi rides between salutations to the artist’s family members living across dakar and its surrounding communes — walks during, before, and after hours of prayer — glimpses of the interior of a great-aunt’s home — an afternoon in the waiting room of the neighbourhood hospital.
